Life Coaching – Bio Psychiatry Therapeutic Services

Life Coaching

Not every problem fits neatly into a diagnosis. Sometimes life just feels off. The job pays the bills but stopped meaning anything two years ago. The relationship is fine on paper. The mornings are hard for no reason that is easy to name.

Life coaching is for that. Not for crisis, not for clinical treatment, just for the gap between where someone is and where they actually want to be, with real support to help close it.

At Bio Psychiatry Therapeutic Services, LLC, life coaching is offered by people who also understand mental health at a clinical level. That matters more than it might sound.

Stuck Looks Different for Everyone

For some people it is career. A decade into something that made sense at 25 and now feels like wearing someone else’s clothes. For others it is confidence, knowing what they want but not believing they can pull it off. For others still it is just the pace of life, too much happening, no real sense of direction in any of it, running hard and not getting anywhere that feels worth going.

Some of the most common things people bring into coaching sessions:

  • Career decisions that keep getting put off because none of the options feel right
  • A major change they want to make but cannot seem to start
  • Goals that get set and reset without ever really landing
  • A transition, new city, new role, kids leaving home, retirement, that has left them unsure who they are in this next chapter
  • A habit of putting everyone else first until there is nothing left for their own life
  • The general sense of being capable of more but not being able to access it

None of this is small. Feeling directionless for long enough affects everything else, sleep, relationships, how someone shows up at work, how they feel about themselves.

What Coaching Actually Does

Coaching is not advice-giving and it is not therapy! It is structured, honest, forward-focused conversation that helps people get clear on what they want and what is getting in the way of it.

The first few sessions tend to be about figuring out what is actually going on versus what a person assumes is going on. Those two things are often different! Then the work gets specific. Real goals, real timelines, real accountability. When something is not working, that gets looked at directly rather than talked around.

What makes coaching useful is not that someone else has the answers. It is having a dedicated space to think clearly, with someone who will push back when the thinking gets fuzzy and hold you to what you said you wanted.

Why Getting This from a Psychiatric Practice Matters

Sometimes what looks like a direction problem is actually something else underneath. Anxiety that makes every decision feel loaded with risk. ADHD that keeps derailing follow-through no matter how motivated someone is. Depression that has slowly drained the sense of purpose over time without anyone quite naming it that way.

A life coach working in isolation might miss that entirely. At Bio Psychiatry Therapeutic Services, if something clinical is contributing to what a person is dealing with, it can be identified and treated properly, not just coached around. That is a meaningful difference.

Who This Is and Is Not For

Life coaching works best for people who are broadly okay but want more from their lives than they are currently getting.

  • Adults navigating transitions
  • People who feel like they have outgrown their current situation
  • People who have the capacity to do more but keep getting in their own way

It is not the right entry point for someone in acute mental health distress. In those cases, psychiatric care comes first. Coaching can come in later once things are more stable, and for some clients both run alongside each other.

Telehealth, So Consistency Is Actually Possible

Coaching only works if sessions happen regularly. All appointments at Bio Psychiatry Therapeutic Services, LLC are available via secure telehealth. No commute, no rescheduling because of traffic, just the session at a time that fits the week.

Schedule an Appointment

If life has felt like it is been on pause and the usual approaches have not changed that at all, it might be worth talking to someone with the clinical grounding to understand what is actually going on and the practical focus to help move things forward!

FAQs

Is this the same as therapy?

No. Therapy looks at what is behind patterns, often going into history, and treats diagnosed conditions. Coaching stays in the present. Where are you now, where do you want to go, what keeps getting in the way. Both have value, and they are not mutually exclusive.

Do you need a diagnosis to get life coaching?

No. Coaching is not a clinical service. There are no diagnostic requirements. It is for people who are functioning but want to move forward on something specific and want structured support to do it.

What if it turns out something more clinical is going on?

Then that conversation gets had openly. Because this practice offers both coaching and psychiatric care, if something clinical surfaces during coaching, it can be properly assessed and addressed rather than ignored or worked around. That is one of the main advantages of getting coaching here versus through a standalone service.

How many sessions does it take?

Depends entirely on the person and the goal. Some people come in with something specific, work through it over a few months, and that is that. Others find it useful on an ongoing basis as their goals shift. There is no set commitment. The structure follows what the person actually needs.

Does insurance cover this?

Life coaching specifically is not typically covered by insurance since it is not a clinical service. If coaching is happening alongside psychiatric care or therapy, those clinical portions may be covered depending on the plan. Reach out or check the Insurance page for specifics.

How is this different from just talking to a friend who gives good advice?

A good friend is great to have! But a friend has their own perspective, their own history with you, and their own stake in how things turn out. Coaching is different because it is structured, consistent, and focused entirely on the client’s goals without any of that. There is also accountability built in, which most friendships, however good, do not really provide.
